Exceptional

The hotel is small and cozy, near the city center yet so idillic and quiet. I finally had really quality, long sleep. Breakfast is simple but enhanced by the hearty and always proactive staff. The hotel has its own small garden where they grow herbs. The room was spacious with a big bathroom. The staff was fantastic, super friendly and always there for you.

The breakfast could be more varied. There is no place to dry your clothes or underwear if you need to. I also wanted a double bed but got two singles so had to just put together.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel

The hotel was in an excellent location for walking into town The garden was beautiful, well tended and very peaceful, with great views down to the harbour All the staff, without exception, were super friendly and helpful Really good to have a small kitchenette in the room Breakfast was very relaxing, taken either on the terrace or in the dining room. There was plenty of variety on offer, but wish we had known there was also yogurt and cereal available, only found out a couple of days before we left!

It was a great place to stay, lovely friendly staff, comfortable hotel and a lovely location.

Location was quiet and close to old centre but also on several bus routes which was really useful for getting back up the hill! The hotel was lovely, the staff were lovely and we slept well and enjoyed the views from the room and the terrace.

Some aspects of the breakfast could have been a bit better - supermarket ham and cheese could have been a little better quality but were fresh (and fine). The choice of hot breakfast items was good, there was always fresh fruit and juices and the coffee was good too. I am gluten free and this was catered for as well. The hotel / rooms are a little tired but nothing that affected our comfort.

Lovely location, garden and great breakfast.

Really nice comfortable hotel, really nice staff and great breakfast. Garden was lovely, felt quiet but close to town. Parking was very easy.

No iron - there was only one for the hotel and it didn’t work. This needs to change.

Slow start to excellent stay.

More detail on parking and arrival info. It would have been nice to know there was a garage available and how to access it. We parked in the street initially and walked to a locked green door. We irritated other motorists as we blocked a lane. Recommend update your website with detail info on arrival process with car to include elevator from garage to check in floor. We dragged our luggage up the stairs.

Cozy place with nice garden and spacious rooms.

The Hotel is supercozy and with nice outside garden area. We had breakfast every morning on the terrace area and its a best place, where possible to start your vacation day. But in same time a hotel have a nice furnished in new colonial style inside leisure area. The breakfasts served personally for each guest, 3 types of fresh juices for selection and a good coffee - thats the key to my heart. Every morning a different home desert offered. The rooms is super spacious and with a kitchen corner area, so they a more studio-apartment type, you can have a breakfast or dinner directly in your own room - little retractable table will help you with that. Our leaving was a really early and I asked to prepare us some breakfast for "take away" - we've got a super kit (earllier at the evening) and had a great brekfast at the 6 on morning at own room, we really appreciated for that possibility.

The hotel not have at rooms the iron and when I asked on reception to get it - they not offered unfortunatelly me this option. Maybe better have a some spare iron on reception and provide it under the guest request - at the evening time I prefer to wear some not wrinkled dress to the resto ))) But its just small advise, everything was really perfect. No any hotel rooms have a balcony/terrace, but having a plenty outside space in the garden is a good compensation.

Some improvements could be made but comfortable overall and would recommend

Staff were lovely throughout. Huge pros were the peaceful and quiet location only 10-15 mins walk from town and the private underground car park, a really important thing to have in Funchal! Setting for breakfast and views over town from the upper storey rooms also lovely

Property is in real need of upgrading - cosmetic improvements to decor (scratched and dented surfaces, stains on all furniture, mattresses and bedding need replacing, older bathrooms with flickering strip lights). Felt like about ~15 years since last renovation. Was nonetheless comfortable but didn’t feel upmarket or boutique as a result. Quality of food at breakfast also very poor for this level of hotel (tinned fruit or just a bowl of dry apples/old kiwis unprepared), cheap supermarket pre-sliced cakes and ham and cheese. We couldn’t face it on the last day and went out instead. No idea why others rated the breakfast so highly.

Wonderfully peaceful hotel near the centre of Funchal

The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious and it was lovely having different cake and juice options each morning. The location of the hotel in the old town was very quiet and relaxing with beautiful gardens to sit and enjoy breakfast or an evening drink.

Very quiet and cultured hotel. I recommend it to everyone.

Breakfast is adequate for a few days stay. Very nice garden and view from the terrace. Cleanliness is maximum. The staff is friendly. Rooms are perfectly equipped and comfortable.

Wonderful

Nice garden and terrace with a view over the city of Funchal. Quiet hotel with a good underground parking. The staff is very friendly.

Rooms are a bit outdated and hotel outside walls needs a new painting. The breakfast in general is just average, poor juices( I do recommend fresh juices). There is no iron and iron board in the room.

Staff were super helpful, we were given towels to stop the flooding and this helped. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace

Beautiful hotel in a super convenient location.

The shower was difficult to use as it flooded the bathroom and hall. It is clearly an ongoing issue as the wooden door frame is swollen at the base and there is damp on the wall of the main room.
